Beyond the Page, Between the Lines
ThinkPub is pleased to announce the launch of The Naked Publisher: Beyond the Page, Between the Lines, a new global publishing podcast hosted by Carlo Carrenho, Brazilian-Swedish publishing expert, and Rüdiger Wischenbart, Austrian publishing analyst and industry researcher.
Through open and candid conversations with leading voices from books, audio, media, and technology, The Naked Publisher explores how publishers really think, what drives their decisions, and how personal journeys shape the industry. Smart, international, and provocative, the podcast looks beyond standard industry narratives to reveal the ideas, dilemmas and mindsets shaping the future of publishing.
The podcast is part of the ThinkPub project, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, with production support from Narratix, a global audiobook production company.
Episode #1: Colin Hauer — From Live Music to the Audiobook Business
In the debut episode, Carlo Carrenho and Rüdiger Wischenbart sit down with Colin Hauer, CEO of Hörbuch Hamburg, for a wide-ranging conversation about the transformation of the global audio market.
From streaming and AI to discoverability, children’s audio and the future of publishing, Hauer reflects on how audiobooks became “everywhere — and invisible”. The episode also follows his unexpected professional journey from live music into publishing, including the surprising story of how a concert by a band he once produced later found its way into a book by J.K. Rowling.
The conversation offers an insightful look into the mindset behind one of Europe’s leading audio executives and opens broader questions about where the audiobook business — and publishing more generally — may be heading next.
