Presented by Carlo Carrenho on May 6, 2026, at MediaFest 2026 in Prague, this presentation examines eight changes reshaping publishing and content creation, highlighting their practical consequences and the opportunities they create.
Artificial intelligence can serve as a publishing co-pilot by automating metadata, pricing, marketing and repetitive editorial work. AI-assisted creation and translation can also accelerate production, reduce friction and make international exploitation of publishing catalogues more accessible.
Audio is becoming scalable content and an everyday consumer behaviour, supported by synthetic voices, subscriptions and dedicated listening devices. Meanwhile, discovery is increasingly driven by influencers, communities and cultural moments rather than physical shelves, requiring publishers to activate demand around individual titles.
As sales migrate toward online stores, marketplaces and direct-to-consumer channels, publishers need closer relationships with their audiences. Carrenho concludes that success will depend on operational efficiency, responsiveness to demand and a genuine understanding of the final customer.
