Closing PARIX Audio Day 2026 in Madrid on 19 February 2026, this panel examines the development of audiobooks and spoken-word content across Latin America. Representatives from publishers, platforms and media companies discuss three connected challenges: expanding the catalogue, improving discovery and creating sustainable business models for highly diverse markets.

The participants highlight the enormous gap between the number of printed or digital books and the number available in audio. Rodrigo Meinberg illustrates the demand through Skeelo’s Brazilian audience, where a relatively small proportion of users with audiobook access generates a substantial share of total reading time. Technology and selective AI production may help convert titles that could not otherwise justify traditional recording costs.

Publishers and platforms nevertheless stress that scale must not displace quality or local relevance. Spanish-speaking and Brazilian audiences require culturally appropriate catalogues, voices and marketing. Partnerships with publishers of every size, production companies, telecommunications providers and retailers can expand access while reducing the economic risks associated with developing emerging markets.

The panel also presents radio and other media organisations as valuable production and promotional partners. They possess established audiences, audio expertise and advertising capacity that can support both audiobooks and printed editions. The speakers ultimately frame Latin America as a major growth opportunity whose success will depend on investment, collaboration, discoverability and respect for the characteristics of each territory.
