Lucien Doyen delivered this presentation at the ThinkPub training event in Brussels on 10 April 2026. He demonstrates two connected tools designed to modernise translation workflows for comics, graphic novels, manga and prose.
The Bulle platform allows publishers to create projects, import files, define user roles and share access with translators and production teams. AI-assisted bubble detection and text extraction identify dialogue automatically, while filters and navigation tools help users locate untranslated, missing or problematic elements.
Additional features include search, project glossaries, export functions, onomatopoeia management and OCR reanalysis. A pre-render mode allows teams to preview translated text within the artwork, while integration with Adobe InDesign helps transfer completed work into established production processes.
Doyen also presents Comogi Writer, a novel-translation environment designed to replace inefficient Word-based workflows. Its branching system introduces version control for translations, while automatic glossary highlighting improves consistency. Together, the tools aim to make literary translation more collaborative, traceable and closely connected to publishing production.
