Emerging Trends in AI: A Global Perspective | Justo Hidalgo

Fundación Germán Sánchez Ruipérez

At the third edition of PARIX IA, held in Madrid on 18 March 2026, Justo Hidalgo offers a global reading of the most consequential shifts in artificial intelligence. He presents AI not as a single product but as a rapidly changing collection of capabilities whose falling costs, broader accessibility and accelerated development are beginning to reshape how organisations create, decide and compete.

The talk highlights the movement from isolated text generation towards multimodal systems that can work across language, images, sound and structured information. It also considers the rise of reasoning models and agents able to plan, use tools and complete multi-step tasks. These developments make AI more useful, but they also increase the importance of knowing what a system can verify, where it can fail and when a person must intervene.

For the book sector, Hidalgo’s overview points to applications in discovery, metadata, translation, market analysis, editorial support and the coordination of repetitive workflows. The opportunity is not limited to producing more content. Publishers can use these tools to understand catalogues, connect books with readers and release staff from routine operations, while protecting the judgment and cultural knowledge that distinguish meaningful editorial work.

His central message is practical: organisations need experimentation, governance and learning at the same time. Teams should test focused use cases, measure real value, keep sensitive data secure and define accountability before automation spreads. The companies best prepared for the next wave will be those that treat AI literacy as a shared capability and combine technical speed with human purpose, critical thinking and responsible oversight.
